# AmphiVox Extension

Answer Google Forms and Microsoft Forms by voice in desktop Chrome and Edge.

## Install and connect

Use AmphiVox Extension to answer a form someone has sent you. You do not need to create an AmphiVox form. This guide is for **desktop Chrome and Edge**.

### Install

**Coming soon.** Store listings are not available yet.

- **Chrome:** the Chrome Web Store installation link will appear here when the listing is available.
- **Edge:** the Microsoft Edge Add-ons installation link will appear here when the listing is available.
- **Other browsers:** they will be listed here once they are supported.

The extension is free: you are never charged. For now, a voice session can run for up to 10 minutes, and the number of sessions running at once is limited. It is not available on mobile browsers.

### Connect your account

Open a Google Form or Microsoft Form in its answer view, then click the AmphiVox mic on the page and choose **Sign in**. Sign in with Google in the tab that opens.

The same tab then shows a short setup page. It asks only for what is still missing:

- **Your microphone.** Choose **Allow microphone and continue**, then allow it when your browser asks. You allow it once; it covers every form.
- **Your agreement** that AmphiVox uses your voice and the form’s questions and answers to fill it in, with a link to the [Privacy Policy](/privacy). The button you press is that agreement.

The setup page then closes and takes you back to your form, which is ready to start. If you sign in again later and nothing is missing, it just says you are all set.

The extension’s connection renews itself as you use it, so regular use does not ask you to sign in again. You reconnect if you have not used it for three days, or after your credentials are revoked. **Sign out everywhere** on your [Account page](/account) revokes your sign-in credentials across the website and the extension within a minute. A voice session already in progress is not cut off; it ends on its own.

### Start your first conversation

The dock is your session control panel. Before you start, the dock shows a notice that you will be speaking with an AI voice assistant. If you start a session without having agreed on the setup page, the dock asks for that agreement first: press **Start** to agree and begin.

Choose your language and voice. Start talking when the assistant asks a question; watch the form’s answers update as you speak. You can still type or select an option yourself during the session.

You can keep talking while the form is in another tab or window. The answers you give then are filled in when you come back to the form. The assistant moves to the next page or finishes only while the form is on screen: if you are elsewhere, it asks you to switch back and confirm again. Once it says it is moving on, stay on the form until the next page appears.

Use the dock to mute your microphone or view the transcript. Supported languages and voice choices are listed once in [the shared voice agent documentation](/docs/agents/voice-agent#languages-and-voices).

### Complete manual questions

You handle file uploads, link questions, picture-only options, and anything the agent says it cannot fill. Complete the question on the form yourself. The assistant then checks the form: for most questions it finds your answer there and carries on, and a required question that is still empty stays open, whatever you say. A few controls give the assistant no way to check them at all. Only for those does it ask you to say when you are done, and accept that.

### Review and submit

Review every answer on the original form. Correct anything you need to, then press the form’s own **Submit** button. The extension never presses Submit for you.

If something does not work, see [Troubleshooting](/docs/extension#troubleshooting). Read [Privacy & permissions](/docs/extension#privacy-and-permissions) to understand what is sent during a session.

## Google Forms

Speak your answers on a Google Form, review the filled fields, and submit yourself. Use desktop Chrome and Edge.

### Google Forms — At a glance

Single-page and multi-page Google Forms are supported, including pages that load a new address when you press Next. Google’s own **collect email addresses** question is supported: say your email when the form asks you to type one. When the form instead shows a “Record my email” checkbox, tick it yourself; the assistant continues once it is ticked.

You can type or click during the conversation. The assistant follows the answers currently on the form.

### Google Forms — Question types

| Question | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Short answer and paragraph | Answer naturally; supported validation is checked. |
| Multiple choice and dropdown | Say one of the text options. |
| Multiple choice with “Other” | Say a listed option, or your own answer. Your own answer goes into “Other”. An answer that only resembles a listed option is entered as “Other”. |
| Checkboxes | Say one or several text options. |
| Linear scale and rating | Give a number in the available range. |
| Multiple-choice grid | Answer each row with one column choice. |
| Checkbox grid | Answer each row with one or several column choices. |
| Date | Dates with or without a year are supported. The assistant asks for a full date even when the form omits the year; only the day and month are entered. |
| Date with time | The assistant collects the date and time separately. |
| Time | Say a time of day. |
| Duration | Give hours, minutes, and seconds. The form’s hour range is respected. |
| File upload | Upload yourself. The assistant can see whether a file is present. |

On a checkbox question, “Other” is not offered by the agent; tick and fill it yourself. Image-only options are not offered either. Unrecognized questions are handed back to you.

### Google Forms — Validation

The assistant reads six numeric rules: **is number**, **whole number**, **equal to**, **greater than or equal to**, **less than or equal to**, and **between** (both ends included). Whole numbers may be negative if the form allows them.

Email, URL, and maximum character count rules are read. A URL answer is still entered manually.

The assistant does **not** read greater-than, less-than, not-equal-to, not-between, contains, does-not-contain, minimum length, regular expressions, checkbox pick counts, or a grid’s one-answer-per-column rule. Google still checks its own rules: when the form refuses an answer, the assistant tells you the form’s message and asks for a different answer.

### Google Forms — Form settings

Required questions and multi-page forms are supported. A Google sign-in or access requirement still applies: sign in to Google and open the form before starting AmphiVox. Connecting AmphiVox does not bypass the form owner’s access controls.

When a page is complete, the assistant can ask to move forward. You can also use the form’s page buttons yourself. Earlier sections cannot be revisited by voice; use the form’s own controls to go back.

### Google Forms — Language

Choose a conversation language in the dock. See [Languages and voices](/docs/agents/voice-agent#languages-and-voices) for the shared list.

You can speak in any supported language. The form itself must be displayed in English: the extension is built for English-language forms.

### Google Forms — Known limits

- You fill these yourself: file uploads, questions that ask for a link, and the “Record my email” checkbox. The assistant continues once the form shows them done.
- “Other” on a checkbox question, and picture-only options, are not offered by the assistant.
- The extension works on the answer page, not the form editor.

You review the answers and press Submit yourself. For help, see [Troubleshooting](/docs/extension#troubleshooting).

## Microsoft Forms

Speak your answers on a Microsoft Form, review the filled fields, and submit yourself. Use desktop Chrome and Edge.

### Microsoft Forms — At a glance

Single-page and multi-section Microsoft Forms are supported. The assistant follows the section currently displayed and keeps up with answers you type or click yourself.

### Microsoft Forms — Question types

| Question | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Short and long text | Answer naturally. Text answers have Microsoft’s 4,000-character cap unless a smaller limit is set. |
| One-choice questions | Say one of the text options. |
| One-choice questions with “Other” | Say a listed option, or your own answer. Your own answer goes into “Other”. An answer that only resembles a listed option is entered as “Other”. |
| Several-choice questions | Say one or several text options. |
| Dropdowns | Say one of the text options. |
| Rating | Give a number in the available range. |
| Date | The day/month order follows the hint shown on the form. |
| Ranking | Give the complete order of the choices. The initial displayed order is not assumed to be your answer. |
| Likert | Answer each statement with one column choice. |
| Net Promoter Score | Give a number from 0 to 10. |
| Math questions in a quiz | Answer on the form yourself. The assistant continues once the form shows your answer. |
| File upload | Upload yourself, then tell the assistant you are done if needed. It cannot read upload completion. |

Microsoft Forms does not offer a dedicated time question; time entered through a Text question is treated as text. On a several-choice question, “Other” is not offered by the assistant; tick and fill it yourself. Picture-only options are not offered either.

### Microsoft Forms — Validation

The assistant reads six numeric rules: **is number**, **whole number**, **equal to**, **greater than or equal to**, **less than or equal to**, and **between** (both ends included). Microsoft’s whole-number restriction accepts no negatives.

Email, URL, and maximum character count restrictions are read. A URL answer is still entered manually. Text without a configured maximum carries the platform’s 4,000-character limit.

The assistant does **not** read greater-than, less-than, not-equal-to, not-between, minimum character count, contains, or does-not-contain restrictions. Microsoft still checks its own rules: when the form refuses an answer, the assistant tells you the form’s message and asks for a different answer.

### Microsoft Forms — Form settings

Required questions and multi-section forms are supported. Access requirements, including an organization sign-in, still apply. Connecting AmphiVox does not bypass them.

When a section is complete, the assistant can ask to move forward. You can also use the form’s controls yourself. Earlier sections cannot be revisited by voice.

### Microsoft Forms — Language

Choose a conversation language in the dock. See [Languages and voices](/docs/agents/voice-agent#languages-and-voices) for the shared list.

You can speak in any supported language. The form itself must be displayed in English: the extension is built for English-language forms. The date format follows the form’s displayed hint, such as month/day/year or day/month/year.

### Microsoft Forms — Known limits

- You fill these yourself: questions that ask for a link and math questions in a quiz (the assistant continues once the form shows them done), and file uploads (tell the assistant when you are done).
- “Other” on a several-choice question, and picture-only options, are not offered by the assistant.
- On a form with a time limit, press the form’s **Click to start** yourself, then start the assistant. The assistant does not track the time limit; Microsoft submits the form itself when the time runs out.
- Forms from a work or school organization are not actively supported. They should work; if one does not, [contact us](mailto:contactus@amphivox.com).
- Unsupported questions are manual.

You review the answers and press Submit yourself. For help, see [Troubleshooting](/docs/extension#troubleshooting).

## Troubleshooting

Start here when a button, question, or voice session does not behave as expected. This guide is for desktop Chrome and Edge.

### No mic button

Check that the extension is installed and enabled, and that you are on the form’s **answer page**, not its editor, results page, or submission confirmation. Open the original Google Forms or Microsoft Forms respondent link, then reload after installation. On a Microsoft form with a time limit, press the form’s **Click to start** first: its start page has no questions to answer.

A browser without the extension installed cannot show its mic button. Mobile browsers are not supported.

### Sign-in is requested again

The extension’s connection renews itself as you use it, and expires after three days without use. It also ends when you use **Sign out everywhere** or delete your account. Click the mic and follow the connection step again. Sign into Google or Microsoft separately if the form itself requires it.

### Microphone is blocked

If the dock shows **Microphone access needed**, choose **Grant microphone access**: the setup page opens and asks for it. If it says the microphone is blocked, click the icon at the left of that page’s address bar, set **Microphone** to **Allow**, then press **Check again**. The dock is ready again as soon as access is allowed.

If the microphone is allowed but you still are not heard, check your operating system’s privacy settings, select a working microphone, close another application that is using it, and start the session again.

### Cannot move to the next page

When the form shows a validation message, the assistant reads it to you and asks for a different answer. Otherwise, check the form for a required question that is still empty and complete it on the page. See [Google Forms validation](/docs/extension#google-forms) or [Microsoft Forms validation](/docs/extension#microsoft-forms) for the rules the assistant knows in advance.

The assistant waits for the form to be on screen before it moves on. If you switched to another tab or window, go back to the form and confirm again.

If you are still stuck, end the voice session, use the form’s Next button yourself, and start again on the next page. Your answers remain on the original form.

### A field is left to you

File uploads, link questions, picture-only options, unsupported questions, and controls the assistant cannot reliably fill are completed manually. Fill the question on the page. The assistant checks the form for your answer, so saying you are done does not complete a question it can tell is still empty. Only where a control gives it no way to check does it ask you to confirm aloud, and accept that. A skipped optional question does not erase an answer already on the form.

### The session ended

A session can finish because its questions are done, you ended it, it reached an inactivity or duration limit, or the connection failed. Review the form’s answers before continuing. Start another session if you need more help; an ended session does not submit the form.

If problems continue, email [contactus@amphivox.com](mailto:contactus@amphivox.com) with the platform and symptom. Avoid sending private answers or access tokens.

## Privacy and permissions

This page explains what the extension needs to answer a form by voice. It is not a replacement for the [Privacy Policy](/privacy).

### What is read, and when

The extension inspects supported forms locally when they load so it can show the dock and recognize their questions. This local inspection does not send form content to AmphiVox.

During a voice session, AmphiVox receives the open form’s question text, labels, options, and current answers, including answers you typed or clicked yourself. Questions that appear as you answer are included so the assistant can keep up. It also receives whether the form’s tab is on screen, so it can wait for the form before moving to the next page or finishing.

Before your first session you agree to this once, on the setup page or in the dock. The extension does not read your other tabs, browse your history, or read unrelated sites. Form content is not sent before you start a voice session or after it ends. The optional feedback note described below is sent only if you choose to give feedback.

The form’s identifier is used in session usage metrics. The full page address is not sent.

### Why each permission is needed

| Permission or access | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Storage | Keep your connection token and your agreement on your device, so you do not have to sign in or agree for every form. |
| Offscreen document | Keep the microphone and voice connection running when a form’s Next button loads a new page. It is created when a session starts. |
| AmphiVox API access | Start and authenticate voice sessions, exchange answers, connect your account, and send optional feedback. |
| Google Forms access (`docs.google.com`) | Your browser grants this for the whole Google Docs address; the extension uses it only for Google Forms. It runs only on Google Forms answer pages, where it reads the questions and current answers and fills answers as you speak, and never on Docs, Sheets or Drive. |
| Microsoft Forms access | Read the form’s questions and current answers and fill its response controls. One small page script reads Microsoft’s form description so the questions can be recognized. |
| Microphone | Asked once, on the setup page, for voice sessions and the optional spoken feedback note. Not a store permission: your browser asks you directly. |

Some older Microsoft Forms links use forms.office.com. The extension recognizes those response pages too; they normally redirect to Microsoft’s current form domain. It has no permission to read unrelated Microsoft pages.

### Audio and conversation text

Microphone audio is streamed for speech recognition and never stored. The assistant’s conversation and collected answers can appear in diagnostic text logs kept for up to seven days. Before a session starts, a notice on screen says that you are speaking with an AI voice assistant.

The assistant fills the original form. You review and submit it yourself; the form provider and form owner handle the submitted response under their own policies.

### Account connection

The extension stores a connection token on your device and sends it to AmphiVox to authenticate voice sessions. It is renewed as you use the extension and expires after three days without use. **Sign out everywhere** on your [Account page](/account) revokes your sign-in credentials across the website and the extension within a minute. A voice session already in progress is not cut off; it ends on its own.

### Optional feedback

After a session, you may leave a typed note or record a spoken note of up to 30 seconds. The spoken note is transcribed; its audio is not stored. Feedback is linked to the session and your signed-in email, and retained for 365 days. Giving feedback is optional.
